Where in the States are the Amors?
Ohio

Our short time in Ohio was wonderful! We stayed with a family that we knew from our first stay in Germany, in Wiesbaden. The kids were home from college for the summer and it was such a delight to see how they have grown-up and how stable and happy they are. The oldest daughter, Kaitlin, goes to Multnomah, so it was really fun to compare notes on our experiences and to get caught-up on all the changes. They have retired from the military since we last saw them, so it was also fun to see how life has changed for them and what they miss/don’t miss about military life.

Our kids received lots of attention and care which they just ate up. Jane offered to watch them for us so we could get a little date time. I was thinking a quick latte or something, but she insisted that we take all the time we wanted. So, we meandered out and explored a bit finally ending-up at a movie theater where we saw “Knight and Day” which was surprisingly a really fun movie. Then, we grabbed a quick dinner of Japanese food which we never get in Germany so it was a real treat. All-in-all it was a great time for us to be together (just a couple) and to connect which we haven’t really had time for.

We got back to the house to find kids that were fully immersed in their activity with their three caretakers and not even all that interested in the fact that we were back. It was good to know that they had had such a good time too.

I stayed-up late chatting and catching-up some more. They are a dear family and so generous in their hospitality to us. I wish we had had more time to spend there.
